The main topic refers to problems of crime, crime policy and criminology between effectiveness and protection of human rights. These problems seem of general interest to all researchers in the field, they seem however to be of special interest in those countries which have recently entered among the group of democratic nations since it were exactly the human rights issues that were the driving and mobilizing force for democratic changes in these countries.
